Our Wineries of the Month:

Januar

The Weingut am Stein was founded in 1890 by the Knoll family in Würzburg (Franken) and has been a VDP member since 2001. Winemaking has always remained one thing: a craft. This means a purist approach both in the work and in the wines.

Februar

This craft has been practiced in Rheinhessen since 1725. Passion means winemaking, and winemaking is fascination. Craftsmanship – Passion – Fascination are what drive Weingut Manz.

With 25 hectares of vineyards in Weinolsheim and the surrounding villages, the focus is on top quality and individuality – wines that are unmistakably Manz.

März

With over 370 years of tradition, Franz Künstler re-established Weingut Künstler in Hochheim (Rheingau) in 1965. Since 1994, it has been a proud VDP member.

Each wine is a unique masterpiece, crafted through a combination of expert knowledge, skilled craftsmanship, deep respect for nature, exceptional terroir, a dedicated team, and an unwavering passion for winemaking.

April

Weingut Aufricht is a family-owned winery run by brothers Robert and Manfred Aufricht, located in Stetten am Bodensee in the Baden wine region. It belongs to Germany’s southernmost wine-growing area, which also boasts the highest-quality vineyards north of the Alps in Europe, benefiting from the unique pre-alpine lake climate.

Authenticity is key here. The oak barrel cellar is a mystical place where champions are born.

Mai

Philipp Kuhn is one of the most influential figures in the German wine scene over the past decades. His collection of national and international awards is unparalleled: 10-time winner of the German Red Wine Prize and 5-time winner of the German Riesling Prize—a record no other winery has achieved.

The key to his success lies not only in his intuition and deep understanding of vineyards and winemaking but also in an impressive portfolio of award-winning single vineyards. The foundation of it all is primordial, rugged limestone, which shapes the unique character of northern Palatinate’s terroir.

Juni

The vineyards speak for themselves—one just has to listen carefully. Weingut Dönnhoff has long been at home in Oberhausen an der Nahe, nestled in the picturesque valley between Niederhausen and Schlossböckelheim. For over 250 years, this estate has been making wine history.

With ten Grand Cru vineyards (Große Lagen), among the finest in the region, Weingut Dönnhoff enjoys an outstanding international reputation for producing exceptional German Rieslings.

Juli

Weingut Kassner-Simon is located in Freinsheim, Palatinate, and was founded in 1949 by Mathilde Kassner and Willi Simon. Over the past six decades, it has continuously evolved. Today, the winery is guided by four distinct personalities: Willi, Rosemarie, Thomas, and Martina Simon.

With 23 hectares of vineyards, a diverse range of grape varieties flourishes here. True to their motto:
"It's a joy to create wines that truly convince!"

August

Weingut Maximin Grünhaus is located on the Ruwer (Mosel) and is dedicated to natural viticulture. The soils of its three monopole vineyards are enriched with natural wild herbs, fostering biodiversity and sustainability.

The musts undergo traditional spontaneous fermentation, relying on wild yeast strains—a key factor in creating the unique character of Maximin Grünhaus Rieslings, which are among the most distinctive wines in the world.

September

Here in Ihringen am Kaiserstuhl (Baden), in Germany’s southwesternmost wine region, lies Weingut Dr. Heger, a proud VDP member.

With extremely steep, hot, and rocky vineyards, the terroir provides optimal conditions for crafting expressive wines. These wines are distinguished by their refined minerality, delicate finesse, and unmistakable character.

Oktober

Weingut Fritz Haag is located in the heart of the Middle Mosel and was first documented in 1605. In keeping with tradition, the estate—now led by Oliver Haag—bears the additional designation “Dusemonder Hof” and cultivates 19.5 hectares of vineyards.

Slate is power—as a pure south-facing slate site, the terroir consists of fine, weathered Devonian slate. This unique soil, which feels almost “greasy” and continuously resurfaces from the depths, provides the perfect foundation for Riesling. The result: wines with remarkable minerality, depth, and unmistakable character.

November

Weingut Rudolf Fürst boasts a long tradition dating back to 1638. Nestled in the heart of the Centgrafenberg, the estate has expanded step by step from 1.5 hectares to 21 hectares today.

All vineyards benefit from natural, gentle, and artisanal winemaking, supported by a particularly mild microclimate. Thanks to extended aging on the lees, the wines naturally clarify themselves, developing exceptional depth and finesse.

Dezember

Tradition in Laumersheim, Palatinate, since 1876 – A top-tier winery with a down-to-earth, family-oriented approach.

At Weingut Knipser, wines are crafted with passion—no big words, no fleeting trends. The focus is on wines that bring joy. To achieve this, yields are reduced, and maturation times are extended. Everything happens in its own time, ensuring that when a wine finally reaches the glass, it is nothing short of exceptional.

To that, we raise our glass! 🍷
